As from 1st April electricity standing charges will rise a massive 92% in the Midlands. An increase from 22p per day to 46p. This is in addition to the 54% price cap increase OFGEM have allowed in energy costs. Shropshire, already having one of the greatest number of families in Fuel Poverty in England will see many more households unable to meet these rising energy costs.

The fuel poor are now even more at risk of having to make the choice between heating or eating.
