We said goodbye to our indefatigable project worker Julie last month, and she’s now back in Canada, where her skills are clearly needed. Canada has the second highest per capita carbon footprint in the world at 16.15 tonnes per person, eclipsed only by the carbon-guzzling USA. Luckily, there aren’t that many Canadians so they’re only 7th in overall pollution terms; and to be fair they have been reducing their emissions faster than we have here in UK.
Jon Cooke, Chair said, “We are very sorry to lose the services of such an able and enthusiastic colleague but we recognise that there will be more opportunities for her in Canada.” Quite possibly – but will there be a duck race in Vancouver to rival the Great Duck Race in Carding Mill Valley – this year on May 28th? We think not – and neither does Julie’s Dad, who will be in his usual place starting this year’s event. We may not have seen the last of Ms Mellors…

Julie lives in Van which is very green for a big city and she has a bike! And unlike the bike in the loft in the UK, this one get used! It's over 700 miles to the tar sands! Talk to the Albertans!!!! Hi all :-) [we say - it's still Canada and Julie is now responsible for ALL of it!!]
